Yak loyalists have been asking me to get representation for their favorite line of scale plane. So after some exhausting Internet searches, I found pictures of the Yak 55 SP. With the mid wing placement and long tail moment I knew it was sure to be a winner. I just needed to cut a few dozen to get it looking and flying like a Lee Ulinger Models should. Then and only then did I start the CAD work for the plane. It would be easy to copy a scale outline and just go with that, sure you can bet it will look right, but rarely will that make for a good flying model. Bottom line is there is no short cut in effort to get the looks and flying qualities just right.
